Who decides how the money is spent?
The Lamar Educational Awards Foundation Board of Directors has final approval of grant awards as recommended by the Grant Committee. This committee is responsible for the review of proposals for projects and programs that will improve and enhance classroom education. Since its inception, L.E.A.F. has awarded nearly $3.3 million dollars to LCISD teachers and schools.
Where does the money go?
Several grant proposals are submitted to L.E.A.F. each year. Proposals received by the Foundation undergo an extensive review process. The number of grants awarded depends upon the amount of money raised through the Foundation’s annual fundraising events.
